'Glue & Cloth Continued' (WEEK 5)

Following last week...

4.After our structure was dry and the cloth was crisp(which took a while).we made a cut on the side and carefully took the cloth off the structure.

Finally with our newly created 3D form we started to play with ideas on the mannequin taking full advantage of the beautiful and organic shapes created from our 'chair structure'.

Design Ideas

Dress, 1989, Issey Miyake (Japanese, born 1938)
Brown wool knit...reminds me of the shapes in my above design.

6. We then cut up the structue into smaller bits and continued with ideas.

The tights add an injection of colour, acting as a structual peice of jewellery which I think looks quite unique.

I thought this exercise was so innovative yet such a simple way to create a completely new form. We were really satisfied with our outcome and although we liked the texture that other people created through using tights, we also really liked the simplicity in colour and organic shapes to ours too. This process made me think of other materials that could be used with this technique for example plaster on clingfilm seen in the picture below...
